I made a new year resolution to workout everyday…and was wondering how shld I stick to the same routine all thru the year….then I came across an article somewhere on how to practise a good habit…it says “U need to practise that habit for 22 continous days without fail, then u’ll automatically get used to do it the next day”….I thought ‘Ok, this seems to work out’ and then started working out on my cross trainer everyday…25min each day for 22 days…3rd Jan to 24th Jan…didn’t skip for a single day in between…I was so happy that I got stuck to this good practice…
Then on the 23rd day, I thought “Now I’ve got the habit of working out, lets see what happens if I skip today’ and more over we had some guests visiting us that day…So I skipped my workout on that day and this continued for the next 7 days, I was not at all worried b’coz I was confident that I’ld resume my good habit in no time, I knew the technique…..
Then 22 days flew in no time with busy busy schedule @ work, days out on weekend, parties n movies etc etc…..and now I successfully got rid of the habit of working out everyday…..Well, I now understand that the idea of practising a habit for 22 days definitely works….Kikiki
